Starting with my own 1870’s League Ball, this Excelsior style ball is an inspired re-creation of a ball originally offered by the Shibe Company of Philadelphia. Presumably made in honor of the Excelsior Base Ball Club of Brooklyn (the team was likely defunct by the time these balls were produced in the 1870's), it is unknown whether these styles were offered for public sale or if they were early “official” base balls that were commissioned by the individual teams or leagues. Either way, they are beautifully designed and I am happy to include them in the collection.
Each ball is wrapped in tissue and foil and is presented in a custom, hand labeled box which is personally signed by the maker.
