1880's Fingerless Pitcher's Glove

Most likely produced for pitchers and infielders, the single fingerless glove allowed protection in the event of a sharply returned ball, while keeping one hand free for greater control while throwing. Since every pitch or batted ball was eventually returned to the pitcher, it’s no wonder that the glove was enthusiastically accepted at that position.

Crafted of buckskin and wool felt, the single fingerless glove offers lightweight protection with a tailored fit. The wrist line tapers to follow the natural curvature of the wrist. Wool pads layered with buckskin protect the palm and the thumb.

The standard offering fits a medium to large adult hand. Custom sizes are available.
Brass button closure. Please specify right or left hand throw.

Currently offered in Tan colored buckskin with Brown piping.

Each glove is packaged in a custom, hand labeled box which is signed by the maker.
